Have You Ever Seen An Abandoned Laboratory?
In 2013, I’ve spent a couple of days in an abandoned laboratory in Berlin to document the unique way this once important building was decaying. Created as a part of a complex of four buildings, the edifice was dedicated to the four main research areas of medicine: physiology, pharmacology, physics and chemistry.
Set within a historical context, the images create a photographic exploration like a journey back in time. Filled from floor to ceiling with traces of their former life, the documented rooms are a testament to their long-standing destiny.
Before the last vestiges of a famous Berlin research centre are wiped away by the forthcoming renovations, I aim with this photographic work to preserve the memory of the past.
